Our Nation’s Capitol

Washington D.C. is home to Major League Baseball’s worst team, the Nationals.  Today, my dad and I drove to Washington to see those Nationals play the Reds.  We got see see a very good game.  The Nationals pulled out their 16th win on the year.  Yes I am 3-6 when I attend Indians games, but I am 1-0 at Nationals Park.

The Nationals came from down 2 in the 8th to win 3-2.  There were times when the Nationals looked like the worst team in the league.  Twice, with guys on first and second, they bunted into a force at 3rd.  Micah Owings struggled on the mound but the Nats stranded a bunch of runners.  The Nationals kept battling and thanks to an error by Brandon Phillips were able to take the lead in the 8th.

Nationals park is very nice.  The stadium looks plain from the outside.  The inside is a different story.  There is a huge HD scoreboard in right center.  They had good movies and graphics throughout out the game.  The crowd was quite for the most part, but at then end they got into it.    I was pleasantly surprised with a crowd of 19,000.  There was rain in the forecast, and the Nationals are no world beaters.  I enjoyed my experience at Nationals park, and I hope I go back sometime.

Tomorrow: Braves at Baltimore
