Feeling Dodger Blue

dodgers.jpg

I admit it.  I underestimated the Dodgers.  I thought they struggled down the stretch (as did the Cardinals).  Manny wasn’t being Manny. Their pitching just couldn’t stack up with the Cardinals. Albert and the Cardinals were going to move on to the NLCS.  Boy was I wrong.
Not only did the Dodgers beat the Cardinals, they wasted no time in doing so.  The Dodgers got great pitching.  The pitching edge seemed to be with the Cardinals and the Carpenter, Wainwright 1-2 punch.  However, Kershaw, Padilla, and the bullpen provided all the pitching they needed.  They gave up a total of 6 runs in 3 games.

It appeared as though the series was going to go to St. Louis at 1-1.  Then a dropped ball and some clutch hitting by the Dodgers in the bottom of the ninth changed the series for good. I didn’t think the Dodgers would win the series but they certainly proved me wrong.  Next up Rockies or Phillies, with the potential chance of an LA showdown in the World Series still a possibility.

I should have known that a bunch of former Indians would get the job done.

Yesterday’s game was awesome.  I can only hope that the real postseason carries much of the same.

Cardinals over Dodgers in 5
Phillies over Rockies in 4

Yankees over Red Sox in 6
Cardinals over Phillies in 7

Yankees over Cardinals in 6

80s weekend

This past weekend at Progressive Field was 80s weekend.  I missed the first few games because of my road trip, but I was able to make it back in time for Sunday night’s game. I also went to the Monday night game.  The ended up being complete opposites.  I have never seen two games that were so different.

Sunday night was one of the best pitched games I have ever seen.  I was hoping for just that when I found out the pitching match up was going to be Lee and Carpenter. They did not disappoint.  Carpenter made only a few mistakes and the Indians were able to capitalize.  He allowed 3 runs over 7 innings, striking out 3 and only giving up 5 hits.  His pitch total was only 89. For as good as Carpenter was, Lee was even better.  He walked the first batter of the game on 4 pitches.  Later that same inning he walked Pujols.  However, after that, the Cardinals had no threat until the 9th.  Not only was Lee good, he was great.  He had no hit stuff.  He carried is no-no into the 8th when Molina lead the inning off with a double.  I really thought he was going to do it.  Guys just were not hitting the ball hard off him all night.  Lee finished the game only allowing 3 hits.  He struck out 6 and only walked 2.  Cliff was truly dominate Sunday night.

Monday night was quite the opposite.  I dont really want to say much.  We lost 14-12 to the Brewers, and were up 12-8 in the 8th.  Bad pitching on both sides.  Lots of homeruns and a Rick Vaughn Bobblehead were the only highlights. Perez has some major issues and cannot be counted on out of the pen.
